Not Out! Rishabh Pant Beats the Odds, Set for Emotional IPL Return
New Delhi, India – In a major boost for Indian cricket, star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has been declared fit to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming Pant’s recovery from a car accident in December 2022.
Pant underwent a grueling 14-month rehabilitation process following the life-threatening mishap near Roorkee, Uttarakhand. The accident left him with significant injuries, including a severe right knee injury requiring ligament reconstruction surgery and a fractured wrist and ankle.
“Rishabh is a vital player for both the national team and his franchise. His return to the field is a testament to his hard work and dedication during his recovery,” said a spokesperson.
Pant will be available for the Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2024 opener against the Punjab Kings on March 23rd. His return is also a positive sign for the Indian team with the T20 World Cup scheduled for later this year.
